But to find that the theory of evolution is not really that good of an answer, the normal person without studying anything special just have to read what the own writer of this theory says, Darwin said, ââ¬Å"To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of the spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree.â⬠(Darwins). Even an not educated person can realize the contradiction that Darwin propose to his own theory, if everything evolved from the same ancestor, everything, the eye should have evolved from there too, but he said that it is absurd to think that the aye could have evolved. Most American feel that Arabs are the ones that took part in the attack while they dont know the whole story behind it they dont want to feel like they are being victimized. In the Reluctant Fundamentalist one quote that he mentions is It seems an obvious thing to say, but you should not imagine that we Pakistanis are all potential terrorists, Just as we should not imagine that you Americans are all undercover assassins(71). This quote tells us that not only was this a planned attack but it was made for thousands of people to get killed in the incident. In both of the quotes there is a claim that Americans Just do not trust people from middle eastern countries for that reason. And it makes it harder for people to keep the attack from erasing in their memory. Another quote that Humid mentioned is Time only moves in one direction. Remember that. Things always change(90). What Humid means is that Americans need to move on from this situation and move forward for the pleasure of the middle eastern. And also Americans dont understand that Pakistanis have feelings to and are not always the prime victim in situations like this. In the article it quotes that September 11 Rekindled The Racial Profiling Debate. What this means is that the racial profiling makes people wonder is there aver going to be a chance that Americans will ever feel safe living in this country knowing that an attack can happen at any time and any place. People cant take any chances on making any situations harder than they really are. In 12 years Americans have managed to turn their backs on Middle Easterners for the last 12 years. And they dont know if it will ever change at any point time soon. Another quote that Humid mentioned was It is remarkable indeed how we human beings are capable of delighting in the mating call of a flower while we are surrounded by the charred carcasses of our fellow animals. What humid means is that it everybody is same from the inside and and they all cant be Judged from something that they didnt do, and are accused of. Also it dozens mean that they cant resolve their differences but make a change on their behavior. In the article another quote would be It was one of the single worst acts of terrorism in the worlds history. This quote is what makes all of the Americans so hard to believe that they can change from the start. And have a calm and once settled life again. In another article called Americas Quest For Global dominance written by Samaritan Power and published by (Minorities). It talks about how many Americans predicted that there would be a catastrophic event would happen as soon as the year 000 started. Power states that they hate us who we are. In America everybody is treated with equality and has a chance to live the American dream. But what does that mean when the only person that the only person that will talk to you are your close friends. Americans now and days dont have the power that they used to have when dealing with events like this since the world war. Terrorism, Racism, and stereotypes have played a huge part of Middle Easterners for quite some time now. In Handmaids novel he mention that Time only moves in one direction. Remember that. Things always change (120). What Humid means is that whenever an event such as 9/1 1 happens. You have to move forward from it and look into the future of things. All Americans need a change of scenery and cannot look past of all the people that they lost and will never get back. In Powers article she states that The government would target all Arab Americans and Muslims (Minorities). So this means that it wasnt just Arabs that moved to America recently. The government were going to question all the Arabs that were born in the united states and question if they were part of the attack on 9/11. In the last 13 years America has had to dealt with people not trusting the Arabs and it makes it hard for them to continue with lifestyle they have. One Quote that Power mentions in her article about racism is in addition the attorney general can keep a foreigner in a person or another secure place indefinitely if he believes that person is a threat to the country (Minorities). In America everyone has the right to speak their mind and protect themselves. So why is it that the government can make changes and question anybody and make them liable responsible if they were a part of the attack of 9/1 1 . In Handmaids Novel he mentions hat There was unanimity in the belief that India would do all it could to harm us, and that despite the assistance we had given America in Afghanistan, America would not fight on our side. 144) In all countries such as Afghanistan and the united states you have to know where your boundaries are help other countries that are in need of some help. Such as the war that is happening in Afghanistan, Americans do not realize it but more Arabs are dying than American soldiers. And it seems rather unlikely because of the advantage that the soldiers have. In this essay there has been a transitions between Both stories by Samaritan Power and Mission Humid. And in Handmaids novel he makes transitions that make people wonder is this how Ameri ca is really like.

Hitler5 essays
Hitler5 essays During the Depression, Germans were overcome with strife and filled with the need for change. They were eager to be led and desperately wanted positive direction for Germany. The conditions in Germany were perfect for Hitlers ideology to be planted and grow in the minds and lives of Germans. In some way or another the Nazi ideology permeated in aspects of everyday life, family relationships, social relationships, and economic circumstances in German village communities. In order to understand the extent of the Nazis influence in village communities, you have to first understand the circumstances present in Germany before the Nazi integration. Traditionally, villages in Germany relied on agriculture as their main source of income. As the population in the villages continued to grow and economic circumstances were declining, many Germans had no choice but to seek another source of income for their household. Many men went to urban areas to find work during the industrialization. The women and children stayed in the village and became responsible for not only the household, but also the land. This one thing paved the way for the transformation from the traditional way of life. The instability created from this was present in many aspects of the German village community. Family life was very much changed by the men going to work in urban areas. The roles of every member of the family were different. The traditional German family had the women and girls taking care of the household and the boys and men were responsible for the land. The men were the "breadwinners" of the family, while the women had no roles with any responsibility. When the men went to the cities, the women became responsible for the household and the land also. The women now became an integral part of family survival. The social structure in Germany had been the same way for years and years. The elite were deeply entrenched in their ...

Animal testing on cosmetics Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Animal testing on cosmetics - Research Paper Example The debate on animal testing and the moral and ethical dilemmas that arise is not a simple black and white issue with clear supporters and opposes except for a few hardliners. As Monamy says ââ¬Å"most people will not have to perform animal experimentsâ⬠(2), and therefore many people are not fully aware of the processes involved in animal testing and are not involved in the procedures and therefore are not in a position to give an accurate opinion on the practice. Modern day debate has however changed as there has been a dilemma been faced in many regions where it is not a simple case of supporting or opposing. In Australia the population of Kangaroos frequently exceeds the numbers the land can hold and so they are culled. According to Monamy, ââ¬Å"There is debate as to whether Kangaroos killed in pastoral areas when numbers become too highâ⬠(3). The discussion centers on why the animals have not instead been eaten the same way that cows and sheep are used or even as su bstitutes for guinea pigs. It would appear that for the opposers to this move it is better for the animal to have a dignified death in culling than have them humiliated in lab having tests performed on them. One of the main reasons that animal testing needs to stop is that in spite of efforts to ensure that there are standardized procedures that would ensure the fair treatment of animals, there are so many loopholes in the current laws that procedures that border on unfair treatment to animals can still be carried out without any action taken against them. The procedures have also become extremely numerous and thus difficult to regulate. Latham says, ââ¬Å"This is exactly what might be expected given the incredible volume and variety of animal researchâ⬠(38), even if the law were to come out and ban practices that it currently views as unacceptable, given the ever changing nature of research and development, it can be concluded that new procedures do come up faster than the t ime it takes to investigate and enact laws regarding their use. For this reason an outright stop to the practice of animal testing would be a more effective solution to the problem of animals getting harmed during research more so in the field of cosmetics where the end product is most of the time simply made to satisfy the vanity of an individual. According to Stephanie, ââ¬Å"sixty-five percent of the population people support the use of animals for testing products for medical purposes (33).â⬠It is for medical purposes that they support these procedures; the use of animal testing in the cosmetic industry does not have as many supporters. Animal testing must also stop due to the use practice of some experiments which from the start are outright to cause harm to the animal even if the purpose is to benefit humans in the end. An example of this is seen in the testing of the telos characteristic in animals. The telos characteristic is a trait that is observed in jackals and ra ccoons whereby if the leg is trapped and no amount of struggle will set them free then the animal opts to gnaw off the leg rather than be immobilized. An experiment that is set up to see if this characteristic is present in other animals has no excuse to say that it did not intend to harm the

Criminology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words - 3
Criminology - Essay Example They include shop lifting and disorderly conduct. Some offenses called wobbler can be classified as felonies or misdemeanor depending on circumstance. Petty offenses or infractions are insignificant crimes involving very minor misconducts classified as violations of public welfare, an example is traffic violations. They are not punishable by incarceration but through monetary fines or community service (Fletcher 31). The basis for proving criminal liability the accused is that, the defendant is proved to have committed a guilty act with a guilty state of mind. The physical elements of such a case are called actus reus while the corresponding mental state is called mens rea. It is the prosecutions duty to prove those elements of the offense to the contentment of the jury beyond reasonable doubt, otherwise the defendant is acquitted. Criminal law formulates that individuals should be punished based on the retribution they deserve as such, they are culpable if they demonstrate insufficient concern for others by choosing to cause risk or harm to others for insufficient reason and does it voluntarily (Fletcher 46). Actus reus is the physical action one takes in order to be culpable of a criminal offense, though it is possible for one to commit a crime by omission rather than an affirmative act. For example, voluntary failure to perform the legally required act of filing and paying tax. To be responsible for a crime, one must perform the legally required act for that crime. For example, the actus reus for burglary is that one must break into a roofed structure or vehicle. The voluntary action provision in actus reus recognizes that people are not responsible for actions over, which they have no control. For example, an epileptic person may have a seizure at a mall causing damage to property. Such a person is not criminally responsible (Norrie 111). Conversely, if such an individual is
